Guerrier Adrien Leonce Theroux

History

Trigger/content warnings: PTSD Related to war. | Religious deconstruction. | Discussion of family loss & grief. | Lore warnings: Endwalker & up. Not spoiler friendly for early content.
Act I.
Guerrier was born while the fields of Coerthas were still green. As the first child of a long-titled Viscount and his wife, it was expected that he would make a name for himself and the family name he would wear forevermore. A younger brother was born when he was old enough to be grateful for his company; Guerrier & Olivier knew precisely how to play their roles, even if they had been named for other things. The brothers were faster friends than even the obligation of family found necessary. What one learned the other gleaned, and in this way the Theroux name was formidable. It would be the younger who went to war, and the eldest would inherit, and one would mourn the other in the end.It was simply out of order.
Act II.
Not long before his brother was set to deploy, Guerrier received word that his betrothal was made to another respected, powerful family. With no interest in the lady or the thought of joining her family to his, the eldest and heir made one of his brilliantly rash decisions and went off to war.Infuriated, the lady's father wrote to him demanding he return and do his duty. Instead, Guerrier continued to serve alongside his brothers and sisters-in-arms. Soon enough, he received what amounted to blackmail: return, or your family will face the consequences. Another rash and clever choice had him dressing a recently killed heretic in his armor, with his signature rings, and the body left for the wyrms in their nesting grounds. So far as anyone would know, Guerrier Theroux was quite dead. Brilliant.
Act III.
His initial plan was to return to his family, confess he was alive, and use the lord's blackmail letter to get out of the betrothal (and whatever consequences came with deserting). Unfortunately a good time did not present itself readily, and he was forced to wait. It was during this waiting that he received word that Olivier had been killed in action, along with the rest of his unit. Thinking the threats had come to fruition, Guerrier fled. The sea took him across her back, and he sank into new names wherever he went. Within two turns he'd fallen in love with travel, and the open star before him. He lived in Kugane, Ul'dah & Thavnair. His feet brought him to vistas his tutors had only ever inspired him to dream of. When a good friend working as a Gleaner brought him to Tural, the colors and people inspired him to finally put down roots again.
Present.
Over the past seven years, Guerrier has made a proper home for himself. He owns a bar affectionately called 'Moogleritaville', and is known by the name of 'Jacques Vaisselier', although his friends call him James. Tural has been safe for the most part, particularly from Ishgardians, although that seems to have changed lately...With the arrival of the Warrior of Light and an expansion of tourism, Guerrier has finally learned what befell not only his homeland, but also his family.Apparently faking one's death is genetic.
Easy Hook.
Do you want to write with Guerrier and don't have a way in? Just tell me! Guerrier is super friendly, and even if it's just giving someone a helping hand or a second ice cream he happens to have.
Medium Hook.
"Oh, I recognize you from--" I'm a 'yes and' type, so toss something out there and I'll run with it. Was he hunting down giant crabs? Dancing on a bar? Writing sad, moping poetry in the rain? We'll roll with it.
Harder Hook.
Did you know him before he came to Tural? This requires a degree of OOC communication and deeper plotting, which I'm happy to do! Notable places he spent a long portion of time:
- Kugane
- Sailing
- Thavnair
- The Silver Bazaar
Very Difficult Hook.
You knew him as Guerrier. He was meant to be a Viscount, and then he died and you mourned. This hook is for those who would like to write properly pre-established relationships in some way or another. LOTS of discussion for this one, please!
